Kindle
Created in collaboration with an interior designer, Kindle is the restaurant above the Three Four Hotel in Memphis, TN. We began by asking ourselves, “What if...?”, which led us to, “What if a restaurant were a campfire?”. What if it were warm, inviting, imaginative, and encouraged conversation? We designed all aspects of the restaurant with this question in mind. Along the way, we documented our process, collaboration, and research on Instagram.

Identity, 2020

PROBLEM

Since the restaurant is above the Three Four Hotel, the audience needed to be the same: 20–40-year-old couples and friends looking for Memphis culture, music, and nightlife. Our goal was to create a warm, inviting space for hotel guests and Memphians to hang out, eat dinner, or grab a nightcap after a night out. Much like the Three Four Hotel, we needed to communicate the city’s culture and give the restaurant’s guests’ an authentic experience.

SOLUTION

Using a campfire as our inspiration, our mark represents the central energy and conversation shared around a dinner table and a campfire. To incorporate an authentic Memphis experience, we created the menu using locally-sourced ingredients. The large, tinted windows give guests a great view of the city while spreading a soft, warm light across the restaurant as they dine.

PRODUCTION & FINAL PRESENTATION

At the end of the project, we held a reception to present the interior and identity of both Kindle and the Three Four Hotel.
